My past week was a fulfilling and good one.
1. Went for a checkup on my wisdom tooth and also cleaned my teeth
2. Got back on swimming with my cousin because it was ages since i exercised
3. Finally satisfied my matcha craving at Tsujiri (just in case you don't know i am a die-hard fan of matcha), but many more matcha cafes to go!
4. Met up with my girls for futsal at upper thomson!
5. Spent quality time with my siblings and Winnie at Bishan Park on a saturday
And lastly i had a really great weekend at Penang! If you don't already know, i was away at Penang for a short getaway! Reason being my mom had leave and she suggested to go Penang for durians, and me being me, i tagged along regardless of school!
It was a good 3 days trip in Penang. A good break from all the hectic workload in school.
Ate too much during the entire trip that i decided to go on water detox (no food only plain water) for one day today. And judging from the time now, i have achieved my goal!
Day 1 - Flew to Penang on the sunday afternoon. Touched down and had chendol because the weather is so hot and humid! Checked into Bayview Hotel right after and was welcome with drinks at their rooftop bar! Ended the day with yummy seafood at Tek Sen and some finger food along the street stalls! :)
^ This chendol was not so good.....
^ View of the Penang city!
^ I want Mommy's legs :'(
^ The bottom left dish is Penang's clams!! It was soooooo good with their sauce, probably the best clams i've ever had!
Day 2 - Started the day with some Ba Kut Teh near the sea and drove up to another side of Penang to visit Bao Sheng Durian Farm for some durians!!!
^ Had 3 different types of durians in the farm! But i personally didn't really like the first two ones, but the 3rd one was reaaally yummy!!! ;)
Visited a temple and drove down the hill for chendol and asam laksa! I only had the chendol and it was not too bad :)
Suspect the adults' stomachs are bottomless pits because they wanted to try the kway teow that the locals have recommended! It was good though :)
^ I don't eat this but they say it wasn't that good either!
Went back to the hotel for a shower and had late dinner for that night! Had the best Hokkien Prawn Mee in Penang island! It was really so delicious, i'm salivating at the thought of it ;)
^ Tried their banana chocolate crepes (in pancakes form) and it was surprisingly SO CRISPY AND GOOD! I was so surprised because we just randomly wanted to eat something sweet!
^ A long walk by the beach with Ivy sis :)
Day 3 - Kick start the day with some dim sum and white coffee at a cottage afterwards :)
Rented a bike on an impromptu decision and Dad, Ivy sis and i cycled around Georgetown because i was dying to see all the wall arts (murals) that are known to be famous in Penang! Some of them were even featured in a a hong kong drama hehe
^ Love this mural the most! Love how the artist take the extra effort to glue a bike to the wall and not just painting the little girl and boy! Just look at how the boy is smiling, i think this picture sends out a really heartwarming message :)
Had chendol AGAIN, i know how fattening it is but i just can't resist! And this was the best among all i had for 3 days!
Had fish noodles for lunch, shared a bowl with mom because i was too full! But the broth for the noodles was tasty :)
Went back to our hotel, showered, grab our backpacks and head down for a seafood feast at Tsunami Village! Funny how they name their cafe that, but i found that only their garlic prawns was good!
This sums up my food trip in Penang! :)
Suddenly recalled that this is the 3rd time in this year i'm out of Singapore. First was Vietnam trip with the Yap family, then UK trip with xuan, and now a short getaway to Penang! Will most likely be flying to Taiwan during the year-end. Should probably compile all these trips again when 2014 ends :-)
I'm actually more than glad that my parents have no restrictions for me. Glad that they always let me off to anywhere in the world, be it alone or with my cousins/friends. Glad that they give me and my siblings the utmost support and trust. Such parents are hard to come by.
I know teenagers nowadays aren't allowed to travel alone unless they reach 21 or etc. Not trying to say such parents aren't understanding because i know they have their concerns. But i'm glad my parents let us explore this world in our way and let us roam the whole world in the most beautiful age in our life.
Dad and mom, you are the best. Thank you for all the support be it mentally or financially. Thank you for your willingness to do anything to make us happy. Having your trust, your love and concern, and basically knowing that we have your back no matter what, is the best thing on this planet.
Time is so tight for me nowadays, so much to do for my IT project. No time to even take a breather. I'll see you guys in my next one when i've the time to update again! Till then xx.
