Birthday mash

Drafting this post because i'm the only one without friday night plans :(

The month of August flew by JUST LIKE THAT again. This month always means national day and birthdays to me. So here goes.

Spent a good 3 days 2 night staycation at MBS with Jon and his maternal relatives during National Day. Had a good view of fireworks which was reaally pretty (i guess it's just SG50 hence the fancier fireworks), and great nights playing card games or teasing one another. I'm happy to have blended in well and that their cousins genuinely love my presence. Love family-oriented people :')

^ The pair of sisters i freaking loveeeee

6 weeks in BRC a.k.a Business Research Centre has officially came to an end. The last day had mixed feelings in me because half of me really love my team and enjoyed working with them (and i'm someone who hate farewells alot), but another half of me was really happy that my long-awaited 2 and a half months holiday is finally here!!!! Who doesn't love holidays?!?!

^ Friends i'm really grateful i met. Middle: Daryl, Right: Joyce.
My 12 weeks of TEP (or what the year 3 students call, final year project) was an amazing one. Kudos to you two. You guys made Year 3 the best year in my poly :')

Baby Xu's 19th Birthday!!!

Clique 5, as cliche as it sounds, is my greatest friendship i ever have. They were all the friendship goals on social medias, and all the listening ears i need, all the shoulders i shed tears on, all the sisters from another mother, and all the ones who knows me the best. You girls are the proudest assets i ever own, and the ones which everyone around me knows, i treasure the most deep inside. And you girls are the only ones i know will always have my backs and that we will never drift away from one another. How amazing because i never knew such a blessing will bestow on me.

So happy bday baby, thank you for being part of my blessing xx.

So here comes a long chain of my birthday pictures.

To kick start for everything, Jon brought me for crab buffet at Park Royal Hotel. It was a 2 weeks advance celebration because that promotion, a pity, was going to end before my actual birthday, so he decided to split into 2 celebrations for me.

Both of us apparently had nothing in common. I guess it's what they say opposites attract. I love matcha he hates green tea. I hate sauces but love vegetables, yet he is the other way round. I love red beans and any beans, but he fucking hates it (we can't eat bingsu together). I hate sashimi and oysters but he loves it. I think that one common like between us is crabs/prawns, and definitely SALTED EGG. Anything salted egg we both love it so much and can eat tons of it.

The buffet had a wide spread of crabs, from ones you hear like chilli crab/black pepper/cereal/salted egg, to ones you didn't even know existed - Honey Rock Sugar/Curry etc. However the crabs itself weren't that yummy to me, i guess buffet means quantity and not quality.

Froth staff also surprised me with a slice of taro cheesecake when i was on shift that day!

Yixuan also met me on the 24th and gave me a birthday meal treat at Froth!!

On the 29th afternoon i met up with Crystal which she also treated me to a meal at Din Tai Fung. Always love catching up with this crazy bitch. Caught "Inside Out" which i at first regretted purchasing the tickets, but halfway into the movie i found myself laughing and engrossed in it, it's a pretty cute and nice movie actually hehe!

^ Pardon my hangover face......regretted drinking so much the previous night w my BRC team.

After the movie, i headed over to New Ubin Seafood where my fav bunch celebrated for me! Simple dinner gathering, cutting the birthday cake, taking pictures. Nothing new every year, but birthday certainly gets less important as the years passed, but it's really who still bothers to celebrate for you. So be thankful who does :')

On my actual bday, 30th August, tiff drove and first picked me up from my place. Thank god for friends who know how to drive because now we don't have to brave the hot sun just to get to the other end of Singapore!

My two poly babes brought me for brunch at Fresh Fruits Lab, and the brunch was really good!! Worth visiting guys!! Thereafter we drove all the way to Punggol Waterway Park in hope to take pretty pictures under the famous lone tree, but we gave up because the weather was terrible.... So damn hot, we decided to drive to a drive-thru mac and got large drinks to share haha!

The girls practically drove me around the whole day and even helped Jon in surprising me by driving me straight to the destination. I was blindfolded in the car hence i did not know where they were taking me to, and whenever google map was going to read out the final destination, these two would scream damn loud just to cover up. It was a mad laughter journey because we were practically laughing at alot of things. They were such happy pills on my bday, i love you girls so much xx.

Thank you my two sampat pors for this (you think is simple but i think is splendid) day. My life in poly was filled with numerous ups and downs, but i know you girls were always supporting me right at the back. I love it when we 3 go full bimbotic blast and laughed like we weren't fed medicine. You girls are life-keeper-girlfriends :')

^ I permed my hair if you didn't realise hehe

^ The cafe ambience and design layout was instagram-worthy too!! :)

^ Our signature pose hahaha!

My day ended off with Jon.

He isn't the romantic kind. He won't get flowers and appear at my doorstep. He won't surprise me with gifts at random times. He wouldn't bring me for expensive food. He wouldn't blindfold me on my birthday, set me down before a candlelit dinner, and hand over my gift.

But he is really special, because i know no one has love me as much as he does.

He will rush straight down to my place (we live quite far away) with just a ring. He will get so worked up when people step on my head and i don't retaliate. He will get so mad when my hands are rough from work or eyes are droopy from lack of sleep. He remember my cravings even when i said it a month ago. He will send me to the mrt everytime after i go his place and make sure i send him a text when i reached home. He gets his license for me just in hope to drive me home in the near future so i don't have to sit long train rides. He saves up for my birthday gift and crack his brains to pick a gift in a guy's perspective. He will tell me "Look i'm still here" when others say i'm fat/ugly. He will kiss my forehead whenever i cry. He will include me in all his cousins' gatherings/trips.

Simple things, and many more, i used to oversee. But months ago, through an incident, i finally knew it's all these little things that his love will prevail through actions, and not by getting me fanciful gifts or bringing me to luxurious places. He is simple, and so is his love.

I'm thankful i get to celebrate with you for the first time this year. I'm used to you being not-romantic, egoistic, straight-minded, yet protective, loving, and really thoughtful. I love you my one and only one, thank you for everything and for loving me despite my really bad and unreasonable days.

I know there are already alot of obstacles in front of us, but please bear with it, we shall walk through this together. Slow but surely.

I came across this quote that says "Hysteria is impossible without an audience."

Whenever i have something bothering me, my gut feeling tells me to text someone i love and pour or rant it out. But then through some incidents when i decided to save that effort, or just stop making a huge fuss, i found that i become stronger because i actually do not really need to make a nuisance out of it or literally cry it out. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up, be strong on your own, listen to your own thinking and woes, and then get back on your feet.

It's not about bottling, but just about not making a mountain out of molehill. Sometimes not all things need to be told to someone or not all feelings have to be said. It's about being stronger and maturing. When you try this, you will learn that actually you won't feel overwhelmed all the time, because you're taking things much easier and lighter now. Trust me.
