^ The long awaited best friend tag is here. Featuring my best girlfriend Sharon Ng. If you have been following me or her on twitter you should have known we did a best friend tag video together! It was definitely a good friday night spent at her crib after her countless invitations, doing stupid things together, laughing over silly things and briefly chatted. Have fun watching anyway!
Just came back from the hospital and it was the most torturous car ride i have ever taken. Mom broke the news to sis and i while we were on our way to NUH. Grandpa is diagnosed with lungs cancer, the worst stage. It is getting so serious that it's spreading to his liver. And the sentence that killed all of us was Grandpa has an estimated 2 to 3 months left.
Grandpa has always had asthma and his lungs have always been weak because he smokes in the past. Hence he often has to go back to NUH due to the discomfort and breathing problems he always experienced. We all thought this time round it was no difference. On Saturday, Grandpa went back to NUH and i visited him on sunday. That was the first time i saw him since he came back from Melbourne for a holiday not long ago. Grandpa as usual told me how lucky he feels he is and how successful he perceives himself as. No matter how many times he tells me about his brave and courageous teen life working under the Japanese, i never got tired of listening to him.
Close friends of mine should know at least a little about my Grandpa. And the common sentence i said was "Grandpa dotes on me the most." I am lucky to be his granddaughter and furthermore the one he dotes on the most among all the other grandchildren he has. He loves to remind me about how in the past he always wait for me under the tree outside Sembawang Pri to wait for me to be released, how he prepares ice pops in the fridge for me, how he cuts up long tubes of mentos into small ones for me, how he brings me to the playground while i play on my own and he sit there to watch me. Grandpa and i have always had a close relationship. He is the one who consist widely of my childhood.
I remember how in the past i would take time out to travel to Bukit Batok just to visit him. But as i grew older, i started doing all these lesser and i guess Grandpa can feel it too. I won't say i regret not treating him better or regret not cherishing him or stuffs like that, because i can honestly say out loud, whenever i have the chance of seeing him, i never hesitate to give him a peck on his cheeks, or chat with him.
It's just that the truth is hard to fathom. I don't like letting people go, least to speak losing Grandpa FOREVER. I know this kind of things is a sooner or later matter. But honestly, when things have been with you for 17 years, you will never want to let them go easily.
Grandpa has no clues about his illness, and he is feeling excited about being able to discharge tmr. But the moment when we left for home just now, you can see the teary eyes in everyone. This is terrible. Really terrible.
